Thank you for applying to the Fatemarked Facility on behalf of your chosen character. Please answer the following questions, which will allow us to determine whether they are suitable candidates. Be honest and thorough.

1. Character Name: Abigail Fowler

2. Canon/Series:

Abigail comes from an otherwise-normal world wherein vampirism is a disease called HPRD3 or Highly Pathogenic Renfield's Syndrome. She herself has Type 2 of this disease, which is a manifestation in which the patient doesn't have fangs (whereas in type 3, the patient presents with fangs and advanced cutaneous porphyria.)

Type 2 patients tend to live in the lower classes of society; it's illegal to draw blood from private donors without medical supervision, so they have to rely on blood banks to get their supply each week. This entails finding transportation to the blood bank, and then walking through a crowd of protestors who dub themselves "Pro-Lifers" - people who believe vampirism is evil, that everyone with the disease is undead, and that the blood in blood banks should be used for living patients who require blood transfusions only.

Meanwhile, Type 3 patients (who err towards the "terrifying", "powerful", or "deadly" side of the spectrum) or wealthy Type 2 patients generally have the means to pay for private donors and medical care, and don't endure the same hardships.

Washington DC, early 90s. Abigail started her life in foster care; she knows nothing about her biological parents, was never adopted, and eventually cycled out of the system when she turned 18. Having nowhere to go and no one willing to hire an 18 year old high school graduate, she turned to being a private donor. She was pretty and clever enough that she was able to parlay this into being a personal assistant for one of the wealthier Type 3 vampire lobbyists in the area. Unfortunately, due to her employer's demands that she "donate" directly from the neck, she contracted the disease herself and was immediately fired.

From there, she bounced from job to job, quitting whenever it was discovered she had HPRS before she could be fired (which was completely possible, given the bias against those with the disease.) She eked out a living, unable to collect any sort of government assistance save for her blood bank visits or, when those became less accessible, her hospital stays, which plunged her into massive debt.

Fast forward one year. Abigail wakes to find herself in the Facility. Aside from the threat of the Trust and the inability to leave the building without a Sentinel, it seems all her problems are solved.

Type 2 Renfields sufferers in this canon do not have any superpowers of any kind. The only relation between Abigail and mythological vampires is her need for blood, her allergy to garlic, and her intolerance of sunlight. She has no fangs and is still alive.

Type 3 Renfields sufferers have fangs, extended life spans, and increased strength and speed. They are nocturnal, have a severe garlic allergy, can not enter religious spaces, and are essentially undead.

3. Age: 20

4. Species: Human/Vampire (Explained in the canon information.)

5. Role: Intern / Junior Governor, Fatemarked

6. Why do you think your character is a good candidate for the Fatemarked setting?

Abigail's an interesting, ambitious character who, unlike most people coming in, wants to be at the Facility. She's a supporter of the program while at the same time being a victim of it. It'll be fun to see her grow and change in the setting, and to find out how she meshes with the other characters.

8. What traits, abilities, or qualities does your character have which might be the reason they are Fatemarked?

Abigail is essentially a vampire, though she doesn't fit the supernatural qualifications for the label. Whatever cosmic forces are earmarking Fatemarked individuals tagged her because of her potential to be a leader and agitator in a bleak, not-really-dystopian world. She's simply too young to take on the role at present.

9. How do you think your character will react to their new role in life?

Abigail will have been in the game for several months if accepted. She adapted very quickly and made herself indispensable to the governors by keeping their schedules, playing gopher, relaying information, and being able to type 90 words per minute with minimal errors.

She loves the Facility. She gets all the blood she needs, she never has to go out in daylight, and she has a decent job, living quarters, and entertainment. It's a nice place.

10. What are some of your character's strengths?

She's smart and logical. In spite of her circumstances, Abigail managed to get an education, and having a certain amount of common sense - or in common parlance, being woke as fuck. She's ambitious, hard-working, and professional, which is all quite odd for a girl her age. Personally, she's witty, which can be seen similarly as a weakness because she uses her humor to distance her from other people. Her survival instincts are top-notch.

She keeps her head in the heat of emergencies, even if long after them, she has complete meltdowns.

She tries to keep an aggressively positive outlook on life in spite of the conflicts affecting her, if only because she knows slowing down will let the negative catch up with her.

She knows how to talk to people, which can be a real asset in public relations-type lines of work, like what she'll be doing for the governors.

11. What are some of your character's weaknesses?

This is where Abigail's real problems come into play. She's not particularly loyal to friends and doesn't build strong relationships that aren't work related. Her number one goal is to stay alive, and making friends isn't going to do that for her. She will throw people under the bus to protect herself. Her sense of humor is used as a distancing method.

She's strongly individualistic, which is part of the reason why her purpose in her own world hasn't been fulfilled; she's in it for herself right now, with no interest in being a leader, even if she does have qualities that would benefit a leader. She's also very stubborn.

This all started, of course, when she was diagnosed with her disease; a part of her decided it was better to throw herself into the job force and scratch her way to the top to make sure she doesn't end up like the people out on the streets, doing the most horrible things for blood. Friends, family, and romance are worthless to her if she can't think past next week's blood supply, and if she does develop friendships, she'll abandon them in times of personal crisis.

She's very young and makes bad decisions, basically.

12. Does your character have any health problems we should know about?

Abigail has HPRD3-2 - Highly pathogenic Renfield's Syndrome, type 2. Colloquially, this is called "HPR", "Type 2 Renfield's" (distinguishing it from the mental illness of the same name), or "Pseudovampirism". With HPRD3-2, the patient is still alive, but can not ingest or process anything but human blood. There is no known cure. She has sensitivity to sunlight just as in cases of cutaneous porphyria, but in her case, UV rays can be endured for brief periods.

She needs to ingest several pints of blood on a weekly basis. If she doesn't, she becomes prone to exhaustion, weakness, hearing voices, moments of catatonia, mood swings.

She travels with a temperature-regulated kit containing medical implements for drawing and storing blood.

She has a severe garlic allergy and should not come into topical contact with garlic, much less ingest it.

Due to her illness, she wrestles with depression.

13. Describe a single important event in your character's history.

She'd been throwing up food for a week. Back then, she had medical insurance, and she'd been able to afford a visit to the doctor to find out what was wrong, but she delayed it. She suspected the reason for her inability to choke down food.

Abigail found out she was HPRS-positive the day after her 19th birthday. She couldn't even legally drink alcohol, but now she would be condemned to a lifetime of drinking blood to survive.

The following day, her employer had fired her. There was no discussion, no promise of references. When she told him she was HPRS-positive, he had looked her square in the eye and told her to clear out her room.

Not great, as birthdays go.

14. Who is your character's next-of-kin? None.

15. Tell us about the most important relationship your character has.

As of right now, Abigail has no close relationships. Under weaknesses, this was explained. It can be assumed that her closest relationship is with the governors, but even that is a professional one, rather than one with any emotional connection.

16. What else should we know about your character that might recommend them to the position?

She's dedicated to making sure everyone falls in lock-step with the governors, because if something were to happen to the facility, she would lose her cushy position and all access to free blood. She needs to stay alive, so the facility needs to stay functioning.

17. Please detail your character's inventory upon arrival in the game.

Just the clothes on her back. The blood kit can be something she acquired in-game.

18. What is your character's Fatemark?

The alchemical symbol for life.

19. Please provide two writing samples showing us your ability to roleplay.
